The Vannathikkavu Temple, the sole temple in north Kerala devoted to Lord Ram, Sita, and Hanuman, is the pride of the village of Vannathikavu, where the story is set. According to mythology, a woman took the Lord Rama statue that had flown away while she was washing clothes by the river and put it on a nearby almirah. She then began worshipping reverently, which eventually developed into this temple. Even the annual temple festival is unique in Vannathikkavu. On the festival's final day, every man in the community dons a dhoti and a towel to transform into a monkey. The conflict between Rama and Ravana is the idea. A sizable effigy of Ravana will be set on fire at the end of that day. Kunjiramettan served as the cornerstone of the artistic group Saraswathi Kalalayam, which once transformed Vannathikkavu into a land of culture. His beloved disciples included Bhagavan Dasan, Ravi, and Chandran. The ballet play Ramarajyam, directed by Kunhiramettan, was a super hit at that time. Following Kunji Raman's passing, his disciples choose to stage the ballet in his honour at the subsequent year's annual festival. Sumesh,son of Kunjiraman, however, was opposed to it. Bhagavan Dasan and his team continue with the performance rehearsal despite receiving his displeasure. On the other side, Sumesh made every attempt to prevent the performance of this ballet.
